CAULFIELD–SRIKLAD

CAULFIELD–SRIKLAD is an inter-disciplinary studio practice initiated by brother and sister Daniel Caulfield-Sriklad and Siranee Caulfield-Sriklad. The practice encourages an embodied and inter-sectional sense of belonging through alternative material processes, embodied methods, and localised collaboration.

Born in Ireland and of Thai-Irish lineage, they have engaged the experience of belonging and identity, through an investigation into the material and cultural memory held within their intercultural ancestral archives. This research laid the foundation for a distinctive design language and methodology, enabling them to explore the embodied, spatial and temporal interplay between the body and inter-cultural imagination.

Textual, graphic, visual, material and movement language, supports the inter-disciplinary approach to the practice across fashion design, communication design, visual arts and education.

The practice has gained international recognition through exhibitions, artistic residencies, conferences, commissions and workshops. Collaboration and co-creation have enriched their inter-disciplinary ethos, nurturing meaningful relationships in the process with independent practitioners, platforms and creative studios (recent collaborations include: Take Courage, Modus Platform, Ieva Blaževičiūtė).

This website has been designed with three galleries displaying work related to the leading areas of the practice: Ancestral Activism, Embodied Practice and Inter-sectional Design. Juxtaposition is used intentionally as a visual metaphor for the viewer to create comparison, contrast and/ or connection, creating dialogue and meaning through the places and spaces in-between the work.
